Key points of "Weblogs: A History and Perspective" and "Blogs as Clubhouses"

A few key ideas that I got from reading the article from Rebecca Blood are:

- Peter Merholz announced in early 1999 that he was going to pronounce "weblog" as "wee-blog" then being shortened to 'blog' with the weblog editor referred to as a 'blogger.'


- Once people started jumping on the weblog bandwagon was when blogging and the concept of blogs really caught on.


- The original weblogs were link-driven, with comments and some personal essays. 


- Because blogging is becoming more and more popular, weblog editors group most bloggers together depending on subjects they write about.


- By writing about things that they're passionate about, bloggers find the things that interest them and write more and more about those topics. This creates a theme of the blogger, and people with the same interests will go to the blog to find inspiration on the topic.




A few key points I found in "Blogs as Clubhouses" are:


- Bloggers openly admit their passions and explain why they love certain topics so much


- Through posting regularly and engaging your audience, you will show the people who read your blog how much you really do care that they read and that you're catering to their enjoyment.


- Make your posts honest and true to what you believe or else you are more apt to come off as fake, thus lessening your audience.






In summary, bloggers express their opinions freely, whether people read them or not. The use of blogs is an outlet for people to showcase their passions and hopefully gain some backing with others who have the same interests.

Technology is NOW

The way that technology effects people today is more and more prominent now that more people are using it. The younger generations that have already started using cell phones and Facebook don't realize that they're contributing a great amount to the technological world we live in.

Another way that technology has not only come in handy, but is shown to be such a huge part of our everyday life is through just this: blogging. With the ability to have free speech and say whatever we feel has led people to become more open to using technology.

New ideas and new innovations have been brought upon technology use from people's input. Without the feedback being given to the general public, big corporations like Microsoft and Apple wouldn't know how to improve their products to keep up with the ever changing technological world.

I believe that despite all of the criticism that people throw toward my generation, the big picture is accepting change. If people cannot accept that this is the new world that we're living in, they cannot accept the tools that will allow them to become an active part of society. Social media and social outlets have brought our world smaller and smaller, allowing anyone from anywhere to take part of the revolution.
